My Top 10 Motivational Songs

Sometimes in life you will feel that everything’s just not working out in your favour. There will be moments where you’ll lose something and just when you are recovering from the loss, something else will fall apart. It happens even to the best of us and when you fail, you have to master the art of bouncing back. I have listed my top 10 motivational songs that I listen to whenever I feel that life is being unfair and when I need a nudge. I suggest you sing these songs at the top of your lungs and I’m sure you’ll feel better and just might drive the negative vibes away.

Kelly Clarkson – What doesn’t kill you (Stronger)

I chose this one instead of Kanye’s song with the same title because the lyrics on this one are more meaningful and you can relate it to any situation. And whether you’re single, married or divorced, in the end you have to love yourself first.

Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror

For the times when you feel sorry for yourself and when you feel like you’re not treated well by your boss, your friends, your parents and by people in general, this is the song to listen to and be reminded that you’re blessed compared to other people. The change has to start in you and you alone.

Sheppard – Geronimo

This is just one of those tunes that you should wake up to in the morning. It’s a feel good song that will boost your system and make you want to face the world with your head up high. If you’re wondering what Geronimo means, it’s a reference to a famous Apache military leader, and the traditional yelling of his name before doing something courageous.

Rachel Platten – Fight Song

A relatively new song, this one has been the theme song of cancer survivors. It’s a great song with relatable lyrics and it’s just plain inspirational. It’s like saying just don’t give up the fight yet because you’re better than that.

R. Kelly – The World’s Greatest

Everybody has to start somewhere and if you’re at the bottom now doesn’t mean you won’t reach the top. I like this song because it gives me hope that as long as you work hard and you’re honest, eventually you will be able to go where you want to go, just like Muhammad Ali who’s the inspiration for this song.

Katy Perry – Roar

I’m not sure if it is but maybe Katy wrote this song in response to all the haters and bashers. It’s a song about reaching the limit of your patience and letting them know that they can’t just do what they do to you. Just like the negative experiences in life, these people just can’t keep on bullying you, you have to fight back at some point.

The Script – Hall of Fame

This is for anyone who think they are good for nothing and they don’t mean anything to the world and that they just exist. I believe we are all here for a purpose, whatever it is, only God knows. But just remember that even the greatest now had to start at the bottom. Anyone can be great, just try and persevere and you’ll get there.

Bruno Mars – Today My Life Begins

This is another song about not giving up even if you feel like it. We are like computers, we need a restart from time to time. I always play this song because I need to be reminded that yesterday has come and gone and we can start from scratch today.

Chumbawamba – TubThumping

This is my number 2 song because it’s nostalgic and I remember singing this when I was still a kid. I didn’t understand the lyrics back then but listening to it now makes me appreciate it more. I like the fact that it’s an upbeat song but that it still means the same thing: when you get knocked down, just get up again.

One Republic – I Lived

I’m listing this as my number one, ultimate motivational song because I believe it speaks volumes when it comes to motivation. I listen to this religiously every single day before I start anything. We all need to live and not just exist regardless of the ups and downs. Every failure is a part of life and it should not hinder us from making the most out of it. “I owned every second that this world could give, I saw so many places the things that I did, Yeah, with every broken bone I swear I lived”
