Do you love your job?

This morning, my phone has been buzzing nonstop because of all the notifications from the LinkedIn app. When I checked, I saw messages from my connections congratulating me on my 2nd year work anniversary. I can’t believe it has been 2 years already. It’s true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun. I may not look the part but working for my company now has been really fun.

Finding the right job anywhere is almost impossible. There are many factors to consider: the boss, your co-workers, the office, the actual job and if there is work-life balance. Many times, people are stuck in a job they don’t really want and is on a constant search to find the right fit for them. How many people can say I like the company I’m working for right now? I am glad to say I do.

I’ve been in Dubai for almost 4 years and I have experienced jumping from one job to another, I can’t seem to find the right one. I took on a job that I don’t really like just to have a visa so I can stay here. I do believe though that everything happens for a reason and when things look like they are falling apart, they might just be falling into place. You will meet people who will help you one way or another and I think I met the right people who guided me to go in the path that I am now.

If ever you are in a situation where you can’t find the job that you think is for you, don’t fret, sometimes it’s just a matter of perspective. Maybe, you’re already there but since you are busy looking for that greener pasture, you are not realising that where you are already is. “The grass is not greener on the other side, it’s green where you water it”

I am lucky that I am enjoying where I am now. I am thankful that I don’t have to drag myself to the office every time. I used to dread going to work unsure of what might happen during the day. Today, I almost often always wake up before my alarm and I’ll be ready for the day. Yes, it maybe hard work in the office all the time but it also has its perks. My advice for anyone who doesn’t like their job now? Just find what makes you happy. Understand what motivates you. Ask yourself, what do you wake up for? If you honestly think the job you have now is not the one for you, then, by all means, look for something else. But also remember, someone might be wishing for what you have right now.

Don’t take anything for granted because one day you might realize, you lost a diamond while you’re too busy collecting stones.
