I went to the mall yesterday to find out if I can have my over a year old earphones replaced as they don’t sound that good anymore. The left side is louder than the right and I feel like there is no bass when I’m listening to any song. I checked online and only Jumbo at the Mall of the Emirates is authorised to replace it so I gave it to them and said they will just let me know in 10 days.
So I thought, 10 days? 10 days without an earphone? That’s a long time for me and I can’t imagine myself not able to listen to my favourite songs for 10 days. So I checked the whole store and tested several earphones. There were Bose, Shure, Pioneer, Sony, AKG, JVC, Beats by Dr. Dre, Sennheiser and many more. I thought of maybe just buying a cheap one for the time being but being an audiophile like me, I don’t want to settle for anything less. If you love music as much as I do, you would understand the feeling.
I tested earphones after earphones until I found what I really wanted. Based on my test and the recommendation from the sales guy, I bought this one. The Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear headphones. It was not the most expensive out of all the models from the brand but it certainly is not cheap. I tried a cheaper model and I compared it with this one and I knew for sure that I had to buy it. I know that if I buy a cheaper one, I will just regret it when I come home and would tell myself that for a few more dirhams, I should have just settled for the better sounding one. It’s the kind of product that will give you sleepless nights unless you buy it.
I played a few more songs and the clarity is just incomparable to other earphones I have used before. Every song that I played sounded crystal clear and I kind of liked the songs that I didn’t like before. I felt like Chris Brown was beside me singing and I was transported to Ibiza when I played a Calvin Harris track. I’m not very particular with how it looks but it looked premium to me. They did not have any other color besides this black and red combination which for me resembles the first edition of Beats by Dre earphones. The cables were flat and I liked the fact that they are symmetrical.
When I got home, I tested it further and this time, plugged it onto my laptop. Even YouTube videos sounded incredible and I listened to a few more songs from my iTunes library and even those were powerful and packed a lot of bass. You can feel a kick whenever the bass in the song is pumping so I was very pleased with my purchase. What’s good about it also is that it comes with a 2 year warranty so just in case it doesn’t sound as good as it used to, you can have it replaced within the time frame given.
So the burning question, should you buy it or not? I say if you like to experience the music instead of just listening to it, go ahead and buy one. If you’re not very fussy then go ahead settle for the cheaper offerings from other brands. I think this is a reasonable purchase because it comes with the three-button multifunction remote with integrated microphone as well and they have it both for iPhones and Android phones. For its price and functionality, I definitely think it’s worth it.
