Osteria is an Italian restaurant situated at the mezzanine floor of the Dubai Festival City mall. Literally meaning ‘Authentic Italian Ristorante’, Osteria is a humble homage to the great Italian taverns of New Yorks Little Italy — an insular Neopolitan village in the heart of Manhattan. They have another branch in Dubai located at the Burjuman area.
The restaurant boasts of a rich and notorious history of Little Italy where old-school Italian recipes became influenced by the other prominent immigrant communities and where much of traditional Italian food reigns as street food. The interior of the restaurant is mostly brown with comfy couches and brown chairs and the walls are adorned with black and white framed pictures and posters.
The menu although consisting of mostly Italian food offers not just pizza and pasta but also includes down-home dishes like the eggplant parmesan, the chicken Milanese, grilled steak and fresh fish options. The food were decent, it tasted as what we expected it to be and even though not spectacular was pretty good. We ordered mostly the samplers to be able to try most of their offerings. They currently run some good promotions and they accept Entertainer vouchers as well.
A noticeable difference of Osteria from the other restaurants is their friendly and accommodating staff. From the moment we entered until we finished and left, each one of them greeted and served us with a smile. They suggested things on the menu and made sure we have everything that we needed and were attentive all throughout. This is the kind of customer service that all establishments should be giving their clients. They all looked happy and are enjoying what they are doing.
In general, we certainly had a good dining experience at Osteria. The food was satisfying, the place was nice and neat, the staff were all pleasant and the prices were reasonable. It’s a simple, no frills kind of restaurant with a friendly and inviting atmosphere. I would definitely come back again if I crave for Italian food and if I’m in the area so I can try out the other dishes. I believe that there’s a lot of room for improvement though. They can either revamp the menu or at least experiment more on how they can turn the food from good to great and come up with more exciting promotions that will make skeptical diners opt to try it.
