Eat Greek

Eat Greek honors the breadth of traditional Greek cuisine by bringing fresh, wholesome cooking from all regions of Greece to a contemporary and comfortable setting in upbeat Dubai.

We tried the branch at the 2nd floor of the Mall of the Emirates just beside the cinemas. Since almost all of the restaurants in this strip are in full view of everyone, you can instantly feel the cozy ambiance even before you enter. I have never been to Greece but based on the pictures and the movies that I have seen, I felt a sense of authenticity in this restaurant. When you enter, you will be surrounded in a warm, comfortable and relaxing  Mediterranean atmosphere with imported limestone and distressed wood floors, stone washed walls, exposed wood beams, and beautiful intimate lighting.

We checked the menu and at first we were offered the soup of the day. I’m not a fan of soups so I checked out the appetizers and the main courses. They offer salads and a variety of cold and hot appetizers. They also have burgers, grilled meat & fish, sandwiches and quite a selection of desserts. I just opted for the seafood frittelles which is calamari and mixed vegetable doughnut with basil flavoured vegetable sauce. We also had their popular moussaka burger and the grilled chicken.

Since I knew nothing about greek food, I didn’t set any expectations and thought I would just enjoy the food. I was pleasantly surprised as I reveled in the delectable taste of everything that I ordered. The appetizer was served warm and the calamari was soft and not rubbery. The sauce also complimented it well. The burger was savory and you can dissect the flavor of every ingredient that was used. And then I was fascinated by how good the chicken was knowing that it was just grilled. It was served hot and you get the feeling that what you’re eating was clean. I don’t think you can have that feeling all the time when you eat out because at times you wonder whether the food you’re eating was prepared to the highest hygienic standards.

Regarding the staff and the service, I didn’t see a lot of waiters running around but we got what we ordered in about 10-15 minutes. When we needed something, there was someone that we can call so no problems with the service. Our waiter was knowledgeable enough to suggest what’s good and thankfully he was right.

The prices were not affordable based on regular working people income standards but they definitely were reasonable. There is a saying you get what you pay for and true to that, if you add a little more compared to what you’re usually paying, you get a bit more flavor and better presentation.

To sum up, I have no complaints whatsoever in this restaurant and I was definitely satisfied with the food, the service and the warm and friendly atmosphere. I am already planning to come back when I watch another flick at the Mall of the Emirates cinemas to try their other dishes and I’m sure it will be as good as the first experience.
