Sophie’s is an innovative gastro-café concept, serving up an array of wholesome and healthy meals throughout the day. They offer a health focused a la carte breakfast menu, as well as other traditional breakfast dishes. Every single item on their menu is basically healthy so you don’t have that guilty feeling even if you indulge a little or a lot.
Sophie’s Cafe is located in the Lower Ground Floor of the RIVA Beach Club, Building 8, Shoreline Apartments, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai. It may be a little difficult to find if you’re not familiar with the Palm Jumeirah area although in my case, since I always use Waze, I’m pleased to know that it was there and I easily found it.
The café has a very welcoming ambiance. I like the overall interior and how they made the most of the small space by incorporating wallpapers and grass designs on the wall. It definitely looked good and picture perfect as well. They also have a large wooden table with matching wooden chairs that complemented the whole green theme.
I have learned that although they are more popular for delivery and take aways, they also have regular dine in patrons. People in Dubai are slowly embracing the healthy lifestyle and I’m glad that Sophie’s is here to provide the food that we definitely need. Health buffs and those who practice a gluten free diet would be pleased to know that they have a lot of items on the menu that are gluten and dairy free and most are organic and natural including the drinks.
There are over 120 dishes on the menu which is available on a rotating basis, including mains, salads, dips, homemade cakes and pastries. These are all created in house from start to finish with a particular focus on whole foods, local and organic produce and great taste. They also have a lunch deal promotion where you get to pick 2 salads and a main course for AED75. I think that this is a great value for your money because usually the salads that we buy near the office already costs AED50 for the salad alone.
What I liked the most about the food here is that even if it’s healthy, they still are savory. I have this notion that when it’s healthy, it tastes like nothing and it’s bland and boring. Sophie’s just changed my mindset about that.
Every item that I have tried was delectable and I have to make a special mention on the Greek Moussaka which tasted like the regular lasagna minus the carbs.
I have to commend the staff too because they were very courteous especially Gary who served our order and explained to us the history of Sophie’s and what comprises every item that we ordered. He definitely knows how to treat customers with a friendly, helpful attitude. He was efficient and made sure that we have everything that we need.
I think that aside from the healthy food, the good customer service is one of the things that will set Sophie’s apart from the others of its kind.
I must say I have never eaten this much organic and natural food in my life. I’m so glad I tried Sophie’s and I will definitely come back and probably make this one of my go to places. They have a nice setting next to the beach club, they have friendly staff and most importantly palatable and scrumptious healthy food.
Mark Twain said “The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want, drink what you don’t like, and do what you’d rather not.” This is not the case at Sophie’s because in the café, I can eat what I want, drink what I want and do what I want without the calories and the carbs.
