A week after trying out a great Italian restaurant in Silicon Oasis, I found myself in Casa Mia at Le Meridien Dubai to check out the special menu prepared by the Michelin Star Chef Nicola Fossaceca from Italy. He flew all the way to the UAE for the Italian Cuisine World Summit and at the same time prepare a 6-course tasting menu for the diners of the restaurant.
When we entered, we were greeted by their newly appointed Restaurant Manager, Francisco Javier Martin Romo and then later on by Casa Mia’s seasoned and talented Chef Maurizzio and Chef Nicola. They were very accommodating and explained to us the menu that they will prepare for us. We were humbled and honored that these great chefs went out of their way just to say hello to us.
While waiting, the other waiters asked us for the drinks and then served some bread as well. I loved the fact that considering the cuisine is Italian and 90% of the menu is hard to pronounce, they were all knowledgeable and showed us that they really know their stuff. We were impressed to be honest.
Only a few minutes have passed before they served the appetizers. We had the burrata, veal and the special appetizer carpaccio.
We then had the margherita pizza which was suggested by Francisco. The beauty of this dish is in the simplicity. He told us that the wood that they use in the brick wood oven are imported from Italy because they give out a certain aroma that adds a little something to the pizza. When we tried it, you can definitely smell the distinctive aroma and it did add a dash of flavour to the already great dish.
Just when we thought we’re about to finish, they served us two more rounds of aesthetically appealing specials by the chefs. There was the meatball, risotto, pasta and ravioli. Words are not enough to explain how good each and every dish was. I know now why Italians don’t get fat, they enjoy and savour the taste of the food instead of eating everything fast. I think I lost count on how many times I kissed my fingers and said delizioso because they were just heavenly.
To seal the deal, we ordered some desserts and asked what their best was. They suggested the staple Tiramisu of course and the spaghetti ice cream. I was skeptical at first but I was also thinking how great that must taste to combine my two favorite food in the world, pasta and ice cream. Then we also had the panna cotta which as expected tasted as good as it looked.
So how many times did I say good or great in this particular review? I think maybe a hundred times because everything that we tried at Casa Mia were really really good. When we visited last night, the restaurant was fully booked and we were told that it’s the case every single night. That’s a pretty impressive feat taking into consideration that there are 18 f&b outlets in Le Meridien. This just goes to show how diners have enjoyed and future diners will enjoy the dishes here at Casa Mia. I’m giving it a 5/5 because from the staff to the ambiance and location to the food and service, everything was perfect and I could not ask for anything more. Casa Mia certainly provides the best Italian meals in Dubai, hands down.
