Urban Bistro, Dubai Media City

It’s a shame that I have not visited this restaurant earlier. I have been working in Media City for 3 years now and it was only yesterday that I discovered this amazing place just across our office.

Urban Bistro which literally means a small restaurant in the city is fairly new to the Dubai gastronomic scene. It is based on a philosophy of sustainable eating in a progressive environment, ultimately seeking to create an urban retreat from the daily grind of modern city living.

That is exactly what I felt when I first stepped inside the restaurant. It was so relaxed with loads of chairs inside and a bunch of couches and pods that I believe are used by coffee lovers who don’t want to dine inside but just wants to stay to chat with friends and colleagues.

There are also a lot of books and magazines for guests to read and I noticed the working stations setup for working professionals. Outdoor seating is available as well if you want to just bask in the sunshine while enjoying the food.

As soon as we arrived, they gave us these refreshing shots and they showed us the festive menu which sounded good on paper. We then decided to go for these offerings as they might not be always available.

We ordered some drinks that looked really cool in the mason jars.

We opted for most of the Gluten Free options such as the half Boneless Grilled Zaatar Chicken, Red Thai Prawn Curry, Turkey Salad, Quinoa Linguine with Seafood and Bacon Crumble.

I had no expectations about the food since it’s my first time to dine here and I was really on the fence but luckily, they didn’t disappoint. Every single dish was scrumptious and savory. My favorite was the linguine and the zaatar chicken as the prawn curry was too spicy for me but I’m sure a lot of people will love it, I’m just not a sucker for spicy food.

I also have to mention how extremely fast they served us our food. By extremely fast, I mean more or less 10 minutes after ordering. That’s really quick and I pointed it out to one of the servers and he said that that is because they know that most of their clients are always in a hurry and so they have to make sure they deliver the food on time. It’s very important because for me, an hour is all we’ve got for lunch and we have to make the most of it.

Overall, for a first timer I was completely delighted I tried Urban Bistro today. What I liked the most about the restaurant is the relaxed and chilled surroundings including the couches and the overall interior design. Just imagine that everyday for an hour, you can actually forget about work and enjoy the food and ambiance – that’s kind of like my idea of a perfect lunch. I will definitely come back here and urge my friends and colleagues to visit too.
