“If it isn’t fresh, don’t serve it.” This is the motto of Russo’s New York Pizzeria that I checked out last night after a long day at work. Presenting a true New York-style pizza tradition, Russo’s New York Pizzeria lives by a family promise that dates back more than half a century.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Chef Ali who went over and beyond to make sure we will be able to order the bestsellers and the famous offerings of the restaurant. Before coming here tonight, I have already heard a lot of good reviews about it and so I was keen on trying it out for myself.
We asked for a little history of the restaurant and we have learned that the brand’s success has inspired the launch a number of successful franchises, and today more than 30 Russo’s restaurants are operating and dozens more are expected to open in the next three to five years. The concept has gained recognition for its remarkably fresh food and the affordable price of menu options.
Looking at the menu, I can already see that the prices are unbelievably affordable. I was even more surprised when they served the food because it can’t be priced as low as it is. Of course, we had to take a lot of pictures and before trying them out, you can already see the freshness of the ingredients and I love the fact that they are served piping hot and just the aroma from the food is already appetizing.
For starters we had the Mussels Fra Diavolo and Eggplant Rollatini as suggested by Chef Ali. I was so happy about this choice because I didn’t expect to be good. I was thinking of an actual eggplant but then it turned out looking like this and tasting even better.
We also tried the Pesto Potato Gnocchi, Shrimp Tortellini before diving into the giant pizza. It was my first time to try the gnocchi and I found it to be really tasty and I like that it is somewhat healthy. The Shrimp Tortellini is definitely a must try if you’re feeling adventurous and if you just always order the usual Alfredo or Arrabbiata, it really is good I’m actually dreaming about it now. 😋
I believe the preparation of pure ingredients and the execution of memorable Italian food is what keeps customers coming back for more. Chef Anthony’s commitment to maintaining the freshest products insures that all customers who walk through the door, irrespective of which Russo’s location, receive the bona fide Russo’s experience.
We finished our Russo dining experience with a panna cotta which is also a must try and this dessert called Italian Cannoli made of cream cheese and with the cone imported from the US. These are truly yummy desserts that should be on your list if you ever visit Russo’s.
