ROUX Dubai is a homegrown eatery that serves fresh, organic breakfast, lunch and dinner served by South African Chef Chantel Naude. They just opened 15 days ago but so far has been well received by foodies all over the UAE.
ROUX provides an innovative and relaxed space where customers are welcomed by the staff to experience the socially interactive hub. I’ve learned that ROUX has been designed to provide people with a space that can act as an inspiring oasis of calm in the fast-paced lives of their guests.
I like the fact that they don’t have any doors and that it’s open for everyone to see. If you come here for breakfast, the natural lighting is just amazing and if you’re after good pictures like me, you’ll be happy to know that you won’t need any additional lighting to be able to capture great photos but of course at night is not bad at all.
The concept inhibits a high-end casual dining atmosphere with refined yet affordable quality ingredients. Guests can enjoy succulent, mouthwatering sandwiches, avant-Garde desserts and freshly ground imported coffee. The creative space is served as a contemporary hub aimed towards inspiring both locals and expats.
But what about the food? I came here for breakfast earlier today so I wasn’t able to see the other menus. For breakfast, they serve a lot of the usual stuff but with a twist. First, we tried the fresh juices and I’m happy to say that it was fresh as fresh can be.
Then we ordered the ‘Scram’N’Eggs or the organic scrambled eggs blended with spring onion and chives with Scottish smoked salmon. As you can see in the picture below, it looks good. It actually tasted even better.
We also tried the 3-egg omelet and in the menu, it says ‘Your way or the highway’ because you can customize the filling to your liking. I chose Turkey Ham and mushrooms plus cheese and I was very satisfied with my choice when it arrived.
The waiter suggested the egg flatbread and he said that it’s different from the other flatbreads because they use a thin bread and it complements the egg well. If you’re visiting ROUX, you should try it, it’s really flavorful.
We finished off our meal with this dessert they call the Lost Bread. It’s a cereal crusted French toast topped with maple syrup, fresh mint and mixed berries served with vanilla ice cream. I can’t think of a better way to end my breakfast, this one is good and they get A+ for presentation.
So overall, I really enjoyed my breakfast this morning and how I wish every morning can start like this. ROUX Dubai is new but it’s exceptionally good and I’m sure as more people hear and learn about this noteworthy addition to the restaurants at Citywalk 2, they will all come to have a taste. #RouxTheWorld as they say, I don’t think it will take them long enough to reach that.
Guests can enter ROUX through City Walk mall or through the shop LE66. They also have the option to valet their car at Place de Lumière or at the City Walk parking. It is open weekdays from 8am-11pm and weekends from 8am-1am.
