Dunes Cafe is one of the f&b outlets in the strategically located Shangri-La Hotel in Dubai. We went here for the launch of their new loyalty program called The Table by Golden Circle, which offers unparalleled benefits to members who dine at Shangri-La properties both on the road and nearer to home.
The Hong Kong-based hotel group, which operates 98 properties and over 500 restaurants and bars worldwide, commissioned consumer research in developing The Table – surveying Golden Circle members, hotel guests and local residents on their attitudes towards dining, restaurant preferences and loyalty.
In an attempt to differentiate themselves from all the other restaurants and to offer diners bespoke and curated experiences, Shangri-La invites guests to “Feed your Mood” through the innovative mobile-friendly digital platform, The Table. It caters to how consumers approach dining today. Guests searching for restaurants and bars will find options categorized under five moods – elegant, intimate, upbeat, chill and adventurous.
This is exactly what we have experienced last night as they began serving different dishes based on the mood. Our night started when we all gathered at the Terrace of Level 42 where we had the chance to have a view of Dubai’s skyline and the famous skyscrapers. This is one of the advantages of having the hotel located here and this is one view that I would want to see every day.
They served the first of the 5 dishes for the night at this spot and this one was for the “adventurous” mood.
We then went downstairs to Jules Bar to continue our dining experience. The next mood is “chill” and to convey that, they offered us comfy slippers to obviously have a feeling of just being at home.
The next mood was elegant and before serving the next dish, they placed some elegant flowers on our table to prepare us for the next part. For this mood, we had this entrée risotto with seabass which was absolutely good and was presented nicely.
Next was the upbeat mood and the food was this fine tasting rib that was cooked perfectly. I have to say I enjoyed this a lot and wanted another one but of course, I had to make space for the dessert.
We finished off the dining experience with this 24 Karat Fondant with hot chocolate syrup for the “intimate” mood. It definitely was the perfect way to cap off a great night.
To sum up, I really enjoyed the night and I, without a doubt will register to join their loyalty program, The Table. I also have to commend them for the impeccable service that they have given the guests all throughout the night. It started when they welcomed us at the terrace and it was consistent until we finished dining. Shangri-La obviously knows how to create memorable moments for guests and we did have fun as they introduced moments of surprises over the course of the night.
