Certo is an Italian restaurant tucked inside the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dubai Media City. It has been redesigned last September with natural color shades and stylish accessories, which emphasize warmth, friendliness and illustrates the Italian way of life.
I totally agree that the new design has added a significant improvement in the look and feel of the restaurant. From the moment you enter the newly redesigned interior, you will already sense the warm atmosphere.
The black and white photographic images, framed with the chic golden frames, give an authentic impression of the real Italian life. Even the furniture is also designed for comfort and I specifically like the pastel colors as it gives an elegant but homey feeling to the place.
But what about the food? We briefly met Chef Dario as he said “hi” to us while we were having some aperitif in the lounge. Just in case you have no idea what an aperitif is, it’s an alcoholic drink taken before a meal to stimulate the appetite. Fabrizio, the manager suggested that we have some before we have our dinner so we did.
Going through their menu, I believe it covers all the Italian classics that we have known and loved from pizza to pasta to cheese and risotto to desserts like Tiramisu and Millefoglie.
We started with my favorite, Frittura siciliana di Calamari which is traditional Sicilian softly fried dish: calamari, zucchini, prawns, courgette flowers, paranza fish.
We also had the Carpaccio di manzo, rucola, parmigiano, senape also known as just beef carpaccio.
And lastly, the Caprino salad with goat cheese, roast asparagus, pears and crispy parma ham.
For the mains we ordered Gnocchi alla sorrentina – Gratinated Gnocchi “Sorrentina” style, tomatoes sauce, buffalo mozzarella, Paccheri with green peas, Roman pecorino cheese and pepper sauce, Salmone Alla Griglia, Pane Profumato e Verdure Saltate – Grilled Salmon, crispy automatic bread crumb, sauteed seasonal vegetables and we had the Roasted Baby chicken with grilled artichokes and spicy sauce.
To say that the food was delicious would be an understatement so let’s just say that for two people to order all of that and finish everything up to the last bite means it was amazing. When you eat here, you can really tell the difference between eating real food and just the normal everyday food. The team at Certo unquestionably is passionate about their craft and it shows in every single dish that they serve.
Even the service is highly commendable. I loved the fact that the waiters were all knowledgeable about the menu and their products and are quick to suggest and recommend a good dish for first timers like us.
We finished our meal with desserts because we thought that if the starters and mains were good then the desserts should also be great. We ordered their homemade version of the Omaggio Al Tiramisu, Millefoglie Classica – Crispy millefeuille, chocolate cream, red raspberry, Pavlova or the Meringue dessert topped with cinnamon ice cream, whipped cream and fresh fruits and I sampled the sorbet.
Every dessert was heavenly but I would highly recommend the Pavlova. It was new to me and the surprise ice cream in the middle just completed my night. It’s a good thing the restaurant is near our office so I can just walk to it whenever I crave for this particular dessert.
Overall, if I didn’t make it clear enough, I love Certo. The restaurant is perfect whether you are looking for an aperitif in the lounge, a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy lunch with your colleagues and friends or a dinner that brings you back to Italy. With unbelievably good food in a nice setting combined with immaculate service at reasonable prices, Certo is one place you should clearly visit.
