Dish Catering has just announced the second edition of “Ramadan Nights by Dish”, a unique pop-up culinary Iftar experience.
Just a little background on the company before I start. Dish is one of Dubai’s most reputable catering and event management company established in 2008 by husband and wife team, Henry and Kate Dyer, with the intention of providing creative, innovative and inspiring food concepts to the Dubai event scene. Since then the company has grown significantly, with a team of over 200 people, 50 of who are based full-time at the Dish kitchen, office and warehouse, delivering the best in catering and event management.
I came to know about Dish Catering when Monica of DoinDubai.com invited us for a preview of what actually transpires during a “Ramadan Night by Dish”.
Located in a converted warehouse in Al Quoz, the company has transformed this rustic old place into an exciting or probably, romantic garden with Moroccan lounge furniture and candle lit tables. The setup is absolutely beautiful and you would not think that it is actually located in that area.
During the night, we were treated to the best of home-style cooking as Chef Ryan just kept on preparing his best dishes for us.
To start off, we had a selection of dates, Green olive hummus with pistachio, sesame and olive oil served with artisan bread and crisp flat breads and roasted Butternut squash and red lentil soup, toasted almonds.
The mains included Slow braised shoulder of lamb in middle-eastern spices, scented rice pilaf, preserved lemon, confit garlic and honey yogurt, Tarator style salmon, coriander, fennel, walnut, radish and Charcoal chicken marinated in rose and pomegranate, parsley and almond salsa.
One of the highlights of the night for me was this charcoal chicken marinated in rose water. It was bursting with flavor and was absolutely exquisite.
I think this is what separates them from all the other Iftars in town. The menu is totally different, carefully selected and prepared and the atmosphere of the whole place is just something we all can appreciate.
For the actual Ramadan night though, Dish Catering will be showcasing a brand new menu every day of the Holy month inspired by flavors of the Middle East. The 3-course menu allows guests to choose from a selection of starters, main courses and desserts, including green olive hummus, torn falafel salad, charcoal chicken and the signature slow braised shoulder of lamb in Middle-eastern spices.
The Iftar banquet will be held daily in Warehouse Four, Al Quoz, Dubai, conveniently located just off Sheikh Zayed Road (Exit # 43) and will have the seating capacity of 120. Private and VIP tables are also available for those who prefer a more intimate setting. In addition, corporate clients will have the ability to reserve the whole venue for their clients and guests. The price is AED195 per person inclusive of freshly made signature cold beverages and coffee.
If you’re looking for something different and if you’re after really great food and ambiance then the “Ramadan Nights by Dish” is definitely for you. We thoroughly enjoyed the night and the food and the hospitality and I can’t wait to do it again come Ramadan.
