Dusty’s DIFC

Dusty’s Dubai is a deli by day, wine bar by night kind of place. In between, it is still a restaurant that has been developed and is what they call the extension of the owner, Dusty Tourani. He portrays a mixture of different traditions and cultures that reflect the design, ambiance, and food at Dusty’s.

I was told that the inspiration comes from the collective travels across the globe and it is very evident in the design and the actual feel of the place. It is also manifested in their themed brunch called Departures.

I know Dusty’s has been around for a long time and I’ve seen some promo videos and pictures on Facebook about the brunch and thought that it must be really fun. I actually dreamt of going here to try it for myself and luckily, my calendar freed up and I was able to visit.

First of all, the location is very nice. It is inside the Al Fattan Currency House in DIFC which is impossible to miss as there are huge signages outside. And when you enter the actual restaurant, it’s like you’re transported to a different place.

At the entrance was a security scanner, with the staff dressed as the pilots and “flight attendants” and they are ready to welcome the “passengers” and they will give you your boarding pass as you enter.

The place is relatively small but they arranged everything to make it look big and I am digging the whole interior design and the wall art especially of the celebrities. They also have an outdoor dining area but mainly all the action happens inside.

With regards to the food, they have a set menu with quite a selection of starters, mains, and desserts. Depending on your package, you can also get unlimited house beverages to complement it.

The food here is probably one of the best that I have ever tried and you can order anything that you want on the menu as many times as you want. To be honest, just the starters made me happy but of course, the main courses were something else. There is absolutely nothing that I did not like on the menu and I like the consistency that they maintain even if you order the same dish twice or thrice.

One more thing that I love about Dusty’s is their staff. I am pretty sure I didn’t see anyone grumpy or sad or impolite during the brunch. They were also roaming around to engage the guests with some games and everyone was just having fun and enjoying themselves.

I also loved the music and the entertainment. When we arrived, the DJ was playing old school r&b jams and everyone was just bopping their head and getting a charge out of his playlist. And then a violinist joined and the party just got even better. By this time, everyone was just on their feet and were ready to dance their hearts away.

A couple of birthday celebrations took place after complete with fun, elaborate candles with the staff singing and dancing to the celebrants and I loved the fact that each guest was happy for the other people celebrating even if they don’t know them personally. I was happy for the celebrants and I don’t even know them. It was just a happy place to be in at that moment.

All in all, I believe that the Dusty’s Departures brunch is definitely one of the best brunches I have ever tried in Dubai. I can easily say the value for money is remarkable and with packages starting from AED200, it definitely is a bang for your buck kind of brunch. If anyone would ask me for a recommendation on which restaurant to go to which has a fun ambiance, laid-back and chill music, one that’s entertaining and with food that’s delicious and satisfying, you know what I would say, just go to Dusty’s.
