Cubano Lito is the newly opened Cuban bar in Dubai. As a matter of fact, I don’t think there are other Cuban bar or restaurants in the city so the thought of a visit to this new place brought some excitement in me.
We went to check it out on a weeknight and just a few days before Ramadan so there was no live band or even the “dancing lessons” they are famous for.
I don’t think it mattered though because as we entered the place, we saw this very intimate setting and crowd. It’s like a secret place that only the cool people know. The interior design was really amusing and I particularly like the colors of the walls and the distinct furniture especially the barber chairs and how they complement the whole theme of the restaurant/bar.
The place was fun even without the usual entertainment. I like the buzz and how the people seem to enjoy themselves while having some drinks and food. We sat on the couch and looked at the menu to see what is worth ordering.
We were then welcomed by their manager and guided us through the menu. We had some drinks to start and they were served in these tin cans. I asked if they had anything that’s fancier because I thought it would look better in the picture. They said that this is how they serve it and this is the same way in Cuba so it’s as authentic as it can get.
We then ordered food because we were starving and they suggested the starters that Cuba is very famous for. When you think of the cuisine, you would almost always think of empanadas and fried bananas and all those stuff so luckily, that is exactly what they recommended.
We ordered a few and we were really happy because they were completely what we have in mind. I also love the simple but distinct presentation and the portions were generous enough for sharing.
For the mains, we asked again for their suggestions and they said we should try the grilled offerings. We said yes and they brought out the platter with all the meaty goodness. To say they were scrumptious would be an understatement as the meat and the seafood was really tender and juicy and just overall, great tasting.
If you’re wondering about the price points, then I’m glad to say that dining here won’t break the bank. The prices are really affordable and I believe is so worth your hard-earned dirhams. You get some discounts too if you’re paying using their partner banks.
All in all, I really loved the whole experience at Cubano Lito. The atmosphere, the vibes, the intimate setting, the food and the drinks and the service. It is just perfect for after work drinks or a nice dinner after a long working day. Definitely, add this to your must-visit list of restaurants in Dubai.
