Lucky Voice

I don’t sing because I’m happy; I’m happy because I sing.ย  ~William James

Lucky Voice is a popular karaoke bar that originated in the UK and has gone international with venues all around the world with the addition of the newest branch in Dubai.

Anyone who knows me on a personal level would know about my obsession with music and singing (even though singing doesnโ€™t love me back ๐Ÿ˜œ). I always have to have my music with me wherever I go and to have a place where you can just sing your heart out complemented with delicious food and drinks is what I can call my happy place. So just imagine my excitement when I learned that a new karaoke bar has opened close to my office and home.

So I visited Lucky Voice when it opened and was instantly amazed at how it looked and felt inside. The main attraction was the astonishing photogenic ceiling with lights that change colors and move to the beat of the music. I also love what they did with the interior and the neon signs, the lights, the stage, the abundance of colors and the graffiti on the walls.

This particular review though is about the Jukebox Brunch that happens every Wednesday night from 8pm – 11pm. This brunch is so much fun because it involves a lot of singing and even more food and drinks and entertainment. In fact, the food is unlimited and so are the drinks depending on the package that you will avail.

Prices start at AED150 for the soft drinks package, AED250 for the house beverages and AED295 for the sparkling package. For those who want to start the party a little earlier, The Lucky Social happy hour offers 2-4-1 on house beverages and pizzas from 2pm-8pm.

If youโ€™re interested to know what exactly happens on a night brunch such as this, let me fill you in. Firstly, unlike other brunches where they drown you with buffet spreads and food selection, the menu in this one is carefully selected for everyone to enjoy.

The menu consists of a few starters, pizza, main dishes, and desserts. You can have as much as you want, all you have to do is tell them which one youโ€™ll like to have more of and they will serve it to you.

Next up, you can request for songs that everyone can sing along to. Itโ€™s like a mini concert and the truly amazing DJ Alan pumps up the crowd every time and even in between breaks, the DJ plays the best songs every single one of us can relate to. I tell you, you should leave all your inhibitions at the door because everyone inside is just cool and goes with the flow and sings along with whatever song is playing.

I also love the part when they bring out their signature cocktail in this cute horse designed cup. This is like the signal to just go and have fun and everyone just started screaming and got all excited.

The whole experience lasts for about 3 hours and then it doesn’t stop there. When the resident DJ spins the latest and the greatest tunes, get ready to dance the night away as the fun level shoots up to the highest it can ever be. The place turns into a giant party and you can see everyone just having fun.

I’m sure like me, you don’t want it to end so if you want to be in your own little world and belt out to the tune of your favorite songs, you can rent your very own private pod for only AED50 per person for 2 hours. There is also a button labeled โ€œthirstyโ€ where you can order food and drinks and it will be delivered straight to the pod.

What I like the most about the karaoke system in Lucky Voice is that itโ€™s so easy to navigate. Think of the touch screen console as a giant iPad where all your songs are there and you can just easily select the song you feel like singing. They even have playlists like โ€œsongs for non-singersโ€ or โ€œsongs from the 80โ€™sโ€ and these make it easier for the guests to choose and it doesnโ€™t waste a lot of time. Also, you can find some props inside the pods that add to the fun and make for some cool Instagram-worthy pictures and videos.

To sum up, if you didnโ€™t feel my excitement in what I have just written earlier, Lucky Voice for me is simply the best karaoke bar in Dubai! The fun and excitement that I get every time I come here is always the same and I always go home feeling happy and still on a high the next morning. It is so nice to have your own booth and just sing whatever you want with your friends and itโ€™s the kind of feeling that I always want that to feel thatโ€™s why I will come back again and again to Lucky Voice! I just love everything about it. Lucky Voice is truly my happy place and I hope you can make it yours too!

And in the words of the famous Stevie Wonder, “Music, at its essence, is what gives us memories. And the longer a song has existed in our lives, the more memories we have of it.”

  1. I went to Lucky Voice when it first opened, it felt like a curious spot since it was quite empty and they had to lead us into the bar by the back-end escalators which seemed a bit too cheeky for me. They also barely ID’d people, which made me think that this isn’t such a great idea, though it did turn out to be a pretty fun place in the end. It felt a bit too much like it was trying too hard to be like Lock Stock and Barrel right next door, which is my favorite bar in the whole of Dubai. The other thing that bothered me is the fact that the karaoke itself is pretty expensive compared to other spots, and I’d much prefer the more public display of humiliation when it comes to karaoke rather than private rooms. A cafe with a fun karaoke vibe is OWN cafe in JLT cluster I with both English and Arabic karaoke options, though karaoke night is only on Fridays and it gets pretty busy.

    • I can totally relate with your experience when it first opened. It’s like you’re entering a secret underground place and you’re about to buy something illegal ๐Ÿ™‚
I think it looks like LSB because the management is somewhat connected. Maybe, I’m not very sure. But ya, I like both, private and open to everyone and I believe it’s fun every single time. I have to check that other cafe though, I’m a sucker for karaoke places. ๐Ÿ˜‚

      • Exactlyy. But I’m sure it’s much better now since they’ve made an elevator for it and is no longer creepy.
And yeah you should definitely try that other place out but it is filled with Arabs so you’ll need to go with a huge group of friends to steal the light from the Arabs haha ๐Ÿ˜€
