I have to admit one of my favorite places in Dubai would have to be JBR. Firstly, it’s close to home and office and is easily accessible by car, taxi, tram or even the metro. Secondly, JBR has one of the cleanest beaches in the city and the best thing is, it’s free for everyone. And lastly, you have a lot of choices with the abundance of restaurants, old and new in the beach strip and in the city walk itself.
But as summer sets in, people are thinking twice of coming because of the unbearable heat outside. Good thing the La Playa tent popped up in the middle of the beach and not just a tent, they provide food as well.
The La Playa pop up is a one stop shop for food, shisha, sunset views and entertainment that’s casual, laid back and transports you away from the scorching heat of the sun. Guests are welcome to turn up straight from the beach and take-out award winning CLAW dishes, sinking into uber relaxation mode.
It looks like a normal tent outside but inside you will be welcomed by the brightly lit interiors and comfortable seating. La Playa is the only air-conditioned tent serving shisha and dishing up scrumptious food from the CLAW BBQ menu all through the season.
We visited on a Friday to try it for ourselves and even though we didn’t swim, we were feeling really hot outside so it was such a relief to finally get inside. It looked very simple but super comfortable. The couches are huge and were just perfect to lounge around in all day long. We checked the menu and started ordering.
On the menu are CLAW favorites including Buffalo Hot Wings, Nacho Libre, Baja Fish Tacos, Texas Beef Brisket and of course some of the best Burgers in town. We were looking for something light so we also tried the fresh salads specifically the Kale & Cranberry with chicken. Soon they will be offering monster shakes, frozen coffees, and teas but this time, we settled for just the fresh juices.
If you have ever tried the original Claw at Souk Al Bahar, you would know that it’s the same quality, taste and the only difference is the plates and utensils that they use because since it’s beside the beach, everything has to be disposed of easily. The food was absolutely delicious and complemented with the desirable view of the beach.
Considering the fact that the place is massive, we didn’t have a hard time calling a waiter when we needed something. They were attentive and I liked how chill the background music is so me and my friends were able to catch up properly.
All in all, it was a nice, simple dining experience but it was fun and the word that would best describe it would be chill. It was so relaxing and it’s recommended for anyone who wants to eat great food with a nice view and comfortable seating.
