Mazina is the all day dining restaurant located inside The Address Hotel in Dubai Marina. It offers a contemporary reflection of global cuisine with the restaurant’s five show kitchens serving an eclectic variety of Asian, Arabic and European dishes, from wok hot Cantonese to Rotisserie grill.
We went here on a Saturday afternoon for their Superhero brunch which is targeted more for the kids (and the young at heart).
They are promoting it as a fun filled family brunch experience where everyone is invited to dress up as a superhero and enjoy an international fare including seafood, Japanese delicacies, carving stations and delicious sweets. They also have a bouncy castle, face painting sessions, Wii stations, a magic show and a prize for the best costume.
When I entered the restaurant, I saw that it was very spacious and it was divided into different parts. One was the main dining area close to the buffet spreads, one was kind of a private area and the other one was where the kids’ brunch takes place. The bouncy castle and all the activities happen in this area which is a bit isolated from the main restaurant.
I believe the main selling point here is the abundance of food and the variety and it’s kind of impressive to see how they put together all of these dishes in one place.
Looking around each of the offerings, I think they have covered almost all kinds of food for every discerning palate but even though there’s a lot to choose from, I still didn’t see any pasta which is my favorite.
I did enjoy the food and the energizing drinks too and I believe they are all made fresh every day.
The waiters were attentive and helpful and they replaced the plates as soon as I finish without me asking, which is good. My only gripe was that I wish someone was there to assist with the ice cream as it was a bit hard to take it from the stainless container especially if you’re not that tall.
Also, I would suggest more entertainment as I think it wasn’t that fun (at least for me). Maybe a better playlist with lively songs or a live band perhaps? The place was too quiet even though there were groups of people talking to each other. I just think that when it comes to brunch, the elements should include: great food, good service, amazing entertainment and reasonable price. They ticked off almost all of it, I just think there’s still a room for improvement.
The interior should also be designed to at least be festive so it will appeal to the diners. Based on my experience last Saturday, it seemed too insipid and businesslike.
Overall, the Mazina dining experience was actually nice. It’s not as fun as I imagined it to be but I guess if you’re coming with family or catching up with friends, then you wouldn’t mind what happens in the background. I would highly recommend the food and the food alone is reason enough to go to this place. Maybe I’m just comparing it to the other fun brunches that I have been to but this one is more laid back and chill and I believe that if that’s your kind of thing or scene then you would definitely love it here.
