Buca di Beppo is an American restaurant chain specializing in Italian-American food. The name roughly translates as “Joe’s Basement”. The chain of 92 establishments is owned by Buca, Inc and in Dubai is by GGICO Gourmet Investment.
We got a chance to try this restaurant when we were looking for a new restaurant while strolling at the Dubai Festival City Mall one Friday morning.
From outside it looked small but as soon as you enter, you will realize how massive the place is. The whole restaurant is also decorated with picture frames of landmarks and famous people from Italy. There’s so much to see and the whole place is just instagrammable and I saw customers taking pictures as they enter and leave.
Looking at the menu, we saw some very familiar dishes and it looked like as if we won’t make a mistake in choosing which ones to try. We then settled for the appetizer sampler, a medium pizza and a recommendation from the waiter is their famous spaghetti meatballs.
Before serving the food, they also offer complimentary bread to the guests paired with balsamic vinegar.
We also ordered some mocktails and I love that it’s so affordable at only AED21 each. We tried two of them and loved them both and would recommend it for sure.
And when it comes to the food, I believe they do it quite well as I really liked the food. It’s a proper comfort food for me and I didn’t really expect much, to be honest. The servings are big though and a dish is good enough for 2-3 people to share. It can be compared to Chili’s, TGIF and Applebee’s. I believe they fall into the same category.
The service is good as well considering the number of diners during that time, I must say we didn’t really have a hard time calling their attention when we needed something.
We ended the meal with a tiramisu that I think was frozen and was ready to serve anytime it was ordered. It was not fancy at all but it works.
Overall, we had a nice time at Buca di Beppo. If you’re looking for a no-fuss, good and quickly served food then this can be one of your best bets. It’s definitely one of the bang for your buck kind of restaurants and you can not go wrong with this one.
