Sakura is the Japanese restaurant located on the fourth floor of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dubai. It offers traditional live teppanyaki tables, a sushi bar, and private Tatami rooms.
In my opinion, the whole restaurant feels like an authentic place in Japan. As soon as you enter, you will see the main dining area and the teppanyaki tables. I like this area the most because this is where literally all the action takes place.
Inside the private tatami rooms, on the other hand, there is a communal table in the middle and you can even wear the traditional kimonos to make for a great photo op.
During the night, we started with some live cooking at these tables and we were treated to a show. I like that everything is fresh and cooked in front of the guests. It added to the excitement and we were all in anticipation of the dishes that will come out after.
Prior to that, we tried some sushi and sashimi, salads and soups. To be honest, they were really delicious and flavorful. I love sushi and this one definitely did not disappoint. The chefs were able to prepare some delectable dishes that are aesthetically pleasing as well.
The service was also commendable and for the whole night, we didn’t have a hard time calling the wait staff to ask for something. They were always around and were very attentive to our needs.
After the live cooking session, we moved to the private room to have our dessert. We had some fresh fruits and the traditional Japanese dessert, fried banana with matcha ice cream. It was as expected, delicious and was a really good way to end a nice meal.
We stayed in the room to have some tea as well and I have to say I love this room because it’s so intimate and it almost felt like we are in a different world altogether. It’s secluded and we had a really nice time catching up and to talk about things.
All in all, I loved the Sakura experience because it’s in a way different from the usual restaurants that I go to every day. The preparation of the food is different and was a lot of fun and the sushi and sashimi were really fresh.
If you’re looking for a good Japanese restaurant then Sakura is definitely a must-try. I’m not very much into Japanese food but I liked everything that we have tried so far so that says a lot. I would highly recommend it not just for the food and drinks and atmosphere but also for the fun factor as well.
