Social House is a casual dining spot located on the ground floor of the Dubai Mall just beside the fountain. It is home to a menu that spans the globe and delivers a touch of everything basically from everywhere.
The interior though is a rather interesting one. Instead of seeing just the usual chairs and tables, they have created a space that actually houses a lot of elements from fresh fruits to bottles of water and tin cans to flowers and even trees. It’s very interesting to see and with a massive area allocated for them, they were able to incorporate all of these including an open kitchen and an outdoor dining area.
So back to the menu, it took us quite some time to decide on what to order because they have a lot of options to choose from and you can pretty much have anything that you are craving for at this restaurant. From East to West, you name it, they have it.
We started by ordering some sushi. We tried the dragon and Philadelphia rolls and judging by just the presentation, I was already impressed. Good thing it didn’t disappoint when we tried them. Both tasted good as expected.
We then settled for the small plates so that we can try as many dishes as possible. We ordered the crispy duck spring rolls, Moroccan meatballs, chili and garlic prawns, and fried calamari.
All of these were good but what stood out for me was the prawns. I love it because it’s not as spicy as I thought it would be and the flavors were just right.
Those small plates weren’t actually that small and they are definitely meant for sharing. However, I thought I’ll try some more of their dishes so we ordered their version of Bibimbap, Malay Laksa, and Kung Pao Chicken. They were so good and I would absolutely recommend the Laksa and the chicken.
By this time, we were feeling so full and we needed a break. It’s the perfect timing because the fountain show just started and it’s actually my first time to see it in the daytime. Almost all of the guests started to whip their phones out to take pictures and videos from the Social House terrace and I think it’s definitely a great spot to watch the show.
I also have to mention the service at the restaurant. It’s quite impressive to see that all of the guests were attended to properly considering how busy they were when we came. We’ve stayed for around 3 hours and all this time we saw how they have served the customers promptly.
The waiter recommended that we also try their desserts because they have just launched some new ones that are a must-try so even though we were super stuffed at that moment, we tried at least two of the desserts. We tried their version of the banana split and the carrot cake that was named after their chef. Both were extremely delicious and was the perfect way to end a very nice meal.
To sum up, the Social House dining experience was a very good one because it was laid back, you can just chill, the staff is attentive and the food is great. It’s one of the most popular hotspots in Dubai Mall and judging by my recent experience, I now know why.
