La Perle Dubai

La Perle is the region’s first permanent show in a tailor-made state of the art aqua theatre. It officially opened in August 2017 and since it’s a permanent Dubai fixture, there will be around 450 performances of the show a year, 2 nightly, 5 days a week.

The new 1,300 seat theatre, located in the heart of Al Habtoor City, is purpose-built to host this breathtaking fusion of artistic performance, creative imagery and ground-breaking technology.

La Perle is definitely not your average Cirque show. There are a lot of technical elements and preparations involved and in my opinion, it filled the gap and it will define the future of global live entertainment while taking inspiration from Dubai’s rich cultural past, vibrant present and aspirational future. It is definitely a must-see for tourists and residents alike.

La Perle features a cast of 65 world-class artists, each demonstrating their extraordinary set of superhuman aquatic and aerial stunts during the live 90-minute show. Watch out as they perform breath-taking aqua and aerial feats with the assistance of 70 specialized technicians in the tailor-made, state of the art, intimate theatre.

The theatre itself features an ‘aqua-stage’ filled with 2.5 million liters of water and will have the ability to change from a dry platform to aquatic stage and vice versa in more or less a minute. Daredevil performers dive into the water-filled stage from a height of 35 meters and fly around the auditorium on high-powered winches at a speed of four meters per second.

With this cutting edge stagecraft and state of the art technology fused together, La Perle is one visually stunning spectacle in, on and above water.

Prior to watching it for the first time, I’ve read mixed reviews and I’ve seen comments from a lot of people saying that the storyline is not clear and it’s not that good or impressive but for me, I really loved it. I love it so much that I have seen the same show 3 times now and as a matter of fact, it’s not the same at all. They change some scenes and acts from time to time and there is just so much to see every single time.

I was also lucky enough to be invited on a technical tour to see how the magic happens but I’m not going to spoil it for you especially for the ones who have not seen the show yet. All I can say is, what I thought was a simple performance actually involved a lot of details and specifics.

Guests will begin their La Perle journey in the spacious and futuristic lobby where they can collect their tickets, check out the high-quality merchandise or purchase snacks that can be taken inside the venue. It has the feel of a traditional  4D cinema complete with visual effects except what you’re going to see is not a movie but a live performance.

As soon as you enter the theatre, watch out for your jaw might drop as you set sights on the one-of-a-kind theatre. With only 14 rows and seating 270 degrees around the aqua-stage, every seat offers an intimate and completely different perspective as the awe-inspiring action unfolds.

The stage transforms as well, thanks to a visual feast of high-tech, 3D projections transporting the audience to worlds we can only dream of.

One can never tell that 90 minutes have passed by after watching the show. There is so much to see that you just don’t want it to end. You will experience different emotions such as happiness in the beginning as they open the show, sadness for a bit when you sympathize with the lead character in the middle, anxiety because you don’t know what will happen to some of the characters and gratitude when it’s finished and you’re thankful to have witnessed such a spectacular production.

All in all, I really love La Perle. I love the whole experience and I appreciate it more having seen what goes on behind the scenes and how hard it is to come up with such a show. I would absolutely recommend that everyone see it at least once for it’s such an unmissable masterpiece and it will make you proud that you’re in Dubai and you have this amazing show within reach.

I believe they are offering discounted tickets if you book in advance. If you want to know more, you may visit the website
